Monitor & Screen Recycling in London

Recycle4Charity recycles monitors, screens and display equipment for London businesses, with safe WEEE-compliant handling of all screen types — LCD, LED, OLED and older CRT displays. Screens that can be reused are refurbished; the rest are responsibly recycled through licensed channels. Collection is free across Greater London and can be arranged alongside other IT equipment.

What screens and display equipment we collect

Recycle4Charity’s monitor recycling service covers all types of business screen and display equipment: desktop monitors of all sizes, large-format commercial displays, interactive whiteboards and touchscreens, projectors, commercial-grade TVs used in offices and meeting rooms, and video-wall panels. We collect LCD, LED and OLED panels as well as older CRT monitors, which require specialist handling. Screens can be collected alongside other IT equipment or as a standalone load.

For larger AV installations — projection systems, video walls and broadcast displays — see our AV & camera equipment recycling service.

How monitor and screen recycling works

Screens are collected, individually logged and assessed. Functional screens that meet quality standards are refurbished for reuse — primarily for organisations that support digitally-excluded people who need a screen to go with a refurbished computer. Screens that cannot be refurbished are directed to licensed WEEE recycling facilities equipped to handle specialist panel materials safely.

Do monitors store data?

Standard desktop monitors do not hold user data. However, smart displays, interactive whiteboards and some large-format commercial displays contain internal memory or operating systems that can store user credentials, documents and settings — these are treated as data-bearing devices and wiped as part of our standard process. If you have networked or smart displays to dispose of, let us know when booking.

Safe handling of screen materials

Monitors contain materials that require careful processing under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013. LCD and CCFL-backlit screens contain fluorescent tubes with mercury; CRT monitors contain lead in the panel glass; all screens contain plastics, metals and glass that must be separated and processed correctly. Recycle4Charity uses only licensed WEEE treatment facilities equipped to handle these materials safely. See our WEEE & environmental policy.

What happens after collection

Screens in good working order are refurbished and passed to digitally-excluded Londoners, primarily through partner organisations that distribute devices alongside computers. Screens that cannot be reused are processed through licensed screen recycling — none goes to landfill. See our impact.

Monitor and screen recycling across London

We collect from businesses throughout Greater London. Screen recycling is most cost-effective as part of a broader computer recycling or IT asset disposal collection — but we handle monitor-only loads too.
