AV, Camera & Media Equipment Recycling

Recycle4Charity collects and recycles AV, camera and media equipment from London studios, agencies, schools and offices — including cameras, lenses, projectors, audio equipment and broadcast kit. Reuse comes first: resaleable gear is assessed for value recovery; the rest is responsibly recycled through licensed WEEE channels. No working equipment goes to landfill.

What AV and camera equipment we collect

Recycle4Charity collects a wide range of professional AV, camera and media equipment from London studios, agencies, schools, corporate offices and broadcast organisations:

  • Cameras: DSLRs, mirrorless, cinema cameras, video cameras, action cameras, CCTV systems
  • Lenses: all mount types, all focal lengths and brands
  • Audio: mixing desks, microphones, studio monitors, amplifiers, PA systems, wireless systems
  • Visual: projectors, large-format displays, video walls, LED screens, interactive boards
  • Production: lighting rigs, gimbals, drone equipment, broadcast decks, video switchers, cable looms
  • Accessories: batteries, chargers, memory cards, camera cases and bags

Equipment does not need to be in working order — we assess each item on collection.

Reuse first — value recovery on resaleable gear

Unlike a standard WEEE service, Recycle4Charity prioritises reuse before recycling. For professional camera equipment and AV gear this often means value recovery: identifying items with meaningful resale value and crediting that value against the cost of collection and disposal.

Camera bodies, lenses and broadcast equipment from major brands (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm, Arri, RED, Sennheiser, Shure and others) can retain significant value even when being replaced. We assess the equipment list and provide an estimate before collection. Read about our broader impact and reuse mission.

Data security on cameras and recording devices

Modern cameras, audio recorders and video systems store footage, metadata, geolocation data and business content on internal memory or removable cards. We wipe internal storage on all recording devices collected — but recommend removing memory cards, proprietary media and personal content before handover. If specialist media (P2 cards, SxS, CFast, LTO tape) is included, note this when booking so we handle it appropriately. For broader media destruction across all formats, see our hard drive & media destruction service.

WEEE compliance for AV and broadcast equipment

All electronic equipment — cameras, projectors, amplifiers, displays — falls under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013 and cannot legally be sent to general waste. Recycle4Charity’s AV and camera collection satisfies this duty and provides a WEEE disposal record for your compliance file. See our WEEE & environmental policy.

AV and camera equipment recycling across London

We collect from studios, production companies, schools, agencies and offices across Greater London. Larger collections benefit from a site visit to assess volume and value before the collection day.

Yes — where camera bodies, lenses or AV equipment retain meaningful resale value, we can offer a value recovery credit against collection and disposal costs. Equipment is assessed on a case-by-case basis; contact us with a list or photos and we'll provide an estimate before collection.

Yes — we collect from studios, production companies, broadcasters, agencies, schools and any London organisation with AV or camera equipment to dispose of. Larger collections can be arranged with a site visit to assess the volume and value of equipment before we begin.

Equipment that cannot be refurbished or resold is responsibly recycled through licensed WEEE channels. Hazardous components — such as certain lamp types in projectors — are handled by specialist recyclers. No equipment collected by Recycle4Charity is sent to general waste or landfill.

Camera bodies and recording devices that store data (internal memory, embedded drives, memory cards left in equipment) are wiped before reuse. We recommend removing memory cards and personal media before handover, but we handle secure erasure of any data-bearing component included in the collection.
